Tae Kwon Do - TKD Fun Fusion - Michelle Martin, has fused her knowledge of psychology, Pilates, Brain Gym™ and martial arts to develop a unique program for therapeutic purposes. A small adjunct to her practice 14 years ago has grown to now include 10 classes per week for children ages 3 through 18 and adults.
Because martial arts is both aerobic and anaerobic and a total all over body exercise, enhancing neuro-integration, it can be a very efficient way to gain across many area of wellness, including concentration, balance, self control, and cardiovascular stamina, muscle strength, flexibility, core strength(chi). Blockages of chi can be released non-verbally through the study of martial arts resulting in mental clarity and calmness. Because Michelle’s program may combine counseling and controlled movement with an emphasis on respect and a true reverence for eastern values of patience, humility, it offers an opportunity to achieve a high degree of body awareness, and a calming meditative state. Marital arts encourages one to become an “evolved warrior,” seeking a way of life that is free of ego and to approach with an empty or “open mind,” free of distractions and seeking peace.
Reiki -(prounounced ray-key) relies on the ancient belief in the life force energy, called chi that flows in the body along meridians. It is an effective method to treat physical and emotional issues and like massage, it has been proven to be helpful for special needs. The Reiki practitioner serves as a channel with their hands on or just above the client, infusing them with a positive flow of energy. Clients report varied positive results including a decrease in sensory sensitivities, increased communication and attention span.
Tai Chi-Qigong - Consists of circular, slow, gentle flowing movements with relaxed breathing and increased mental concentration. It is not just a form of exercise as it also circulates the chi (vital energy) around the body opening joints, relaxing muscles, energizes organs, increases immune systems resulting in a healthier body and mind.
Advanced Care Techniques - Gentle hands on contact to guide the body into a balance or integration of the body’s systems for function. Experience in treating children and adults with issues such as learning, memory, processing, self-regulation, balance, sensory, oral, fine and gross motor movement and pain.
Massage - Not just and indulgence anymore. A “hands on” therapy in which muscles and soft tissue are manipulated to improve health and well being. Studies have proven it can relieve pain, muscle tension, joint stiffness, fatigue and depression, as well as assist in recovery from injuries and surgeries.
Guided Visual Imagery - Using your imagination to heal. Used by Olympic athletes to optimize performance, also useful in relieving pain, speed healing and help the body subdue hundreds of ailments including depression, impotence allergies and asthma.
Yoga - A set of physical practices that include gentle stretches, breathing practices and progressive deep relaxation. Benefits include increased stamina, decreased stiffness and lethary, helps regulate endocrine function, increases mobility, calmness, increases energy, and self -confidence
Meditation Classes - Any method of quieting the mind and direct your concentration to the healing element and self remembering. Useful for deep rest, lowering of stress chemicals, decreased blood pressure, improved air flow, younger biological age, decreased cholesterol levels and much more.
Spiritual Counseling - specializing in all forms of addiction, alternative and complementary approaches to depression, anxiety, phobias and ADHD.
Energy Psychology – An integrated mind body approach to emotional well-being. Energy Psychology is based on the principles of ancient Chinese medicine and the concept that energy flows within the human body along pathways or meridians. ong these meridians result in emotional and physical issues can be relieved by acupuncture but can also be remedied via a non-invasive stimulation to the energy points, consisting of tapping. Within energy psychology the following principle is found: everything in the universe is now understood to be made out of energy, including our thoughts. In our perception objects appear physical and solid, yet in reality it is all energy, thus, we are absorbing and sending energy at the same time and interacting within a sea of energy. Using this premise, energy psychology is based on an understanding of how individuals can heal themselves by increasing the flow of energy within their body and shifting to thoughts that build and attract positive energy.
Aromatherapy - Using botanical oils inhaled directly or diffused to scent an entire room, to work on the brain and nervous system through the stimulation of the olfactory nerves. Can be used to relieve pain, care for skin, alleviate tension and fatigue and invigorate the entire body.
